If you’re looking for someone to lead your creative team in producing the kind of work that makes your readers sit up and take notice and your advertisers pull out their checkbooks, I'm your man.
With over 15 years' experience in all areas of print and online communications, from print and interactive to photography, broadcast commercials, high-end prepress, printing and more, there’s nothing you can throw at me I can’t handle.
I addition to end-to-end project management — from concept to delivery and every step in between — I have extensive experience in the the day-to-day business of running a creative department, including training and technical supervision, problem-solving, and quality control of work submitted by freelancers and interns, managing creative timelines, budgets and quality control for all deliverables.
Most recently I've spent 2 1/2 years developing and refining the look of The Miami Herald’s print, online, and TV campaigns. Leading their eight-member creative team's transition to the Adobe Creative Suite, training employees and developing best practices to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
I also developed creative concepts for print, direct mail, POP, packaging, online and TV and supervised execution by creative staff and 3rd party vendors, as well as developing the concepts and executions for new print and interactive products for use throughout the McClatchy Company’s newspaper properties.
I'm a strategic thinker who takes pride in flawless tactical execution. I'm able to asses clients' requirements quickly and produce creative that easily meets — and usually exceeds — their expectations. Creative that’s easy to sell and helps customers achieve their goals.
From the latest version of the Adobe Creative Suite to Lightroom, Apple Aperture, Final Cut, and "legacy" programs like Quark Xpress and Mcromedia Freehand, it goes without saying I've got expert level skills using all common design, drawing, and retouching applications.
I've taught classes and conducted workshops in everything from computer-based graphic design to digital photography, digital prepress to fellow creatives, salespeople, clients and the public.
More importantly, I have the experience know how to fix things when they go wrong. With years of experience in high-end digital prepress, I can spot and fix problems quickly, ensuring projects move along smoothly and downtime is minimized.
I maintain a high level of proficiency using any number of supporting technologies: From scanners to proofers, digital photography and more (I've even taken the controls of a commercial web press to fix color problems the the pressman couldn't resolve).
Shooting with both Canon and Nikon D-SLRs in the studio or on location, so whether it's a simple "run-and-gun", or a more elaborate production using dedicated strobe units I can handle it. No problem.
Experience matters, and if you need a seasoned professional who is comfortable managing multiple high-profile projects for clients in any number of fields, read on.
Over the years I've done B2B and B2C work for clients in commercial real estate, transportation, pharmaceuticals, high-tech, state, local and federal government, resorts, hotels, and cruise lines... You name it, chances are I've done it. I've even worked on the packaging of a line of organic pet foods for squirrels, so you're not going to surprise me.
Having worked on so many different types of projects in so many different fields, I have an intuitive understanding of what clients are looking for and how to to meet their expectations, and I'm perfectly at ease meeting with clients — from the heads of Fortune 500 companies to the Mom & Pop down the street — to help them figure out creative solutions that work for them, help them achieve their goals and can be accomplished on time and on budget.
